Carla’s dedication to teaching music began at an early age. At age 12, Carla was an assistant counselor to the music teacher at Harbor Country Day School’s summer camp and continued to do some teaching throughout high school. At Ithaca College, she was musical director for two plays, taught music at the Immaculate Conception School , and volunteered at Beverly J Martin Elementary in an after school program for children in need. Carla also taught music at the Arts All Around You Summer Camp.

While at Ithaca College, Carla was President of Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional, international music fraternity. She also earned the Ines Pratt Jamison Voice Scholarship and graduated with the Mu Phi Epsilon Celia W. Slocum Award “for excellent character traits, personality, musicianship, scholarship, and outstanding contributions to the fraternity and the College.” Carla holds a NYS Teaching Certification.

Although teaching is her number one passion, Carla also enjoys performing in her spare time. She is currently taking voice lessons in Manhattan with Michelle Carr and likes to sing jazz, classical, and musical theater. In the past year, Carla has sung at The Blue Note, Cleopatra’s Needle, and Smoke. She is also proud to have performed at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center while in college.

Carla prides herself in her flexibility as a teacher. She thoroughly enjoys being able to teach a variety of genres and to a variety of learning styles. Carla is looking forward to furthering her education and teaching for many, many years to come.
