James DiMeglio

James Di Meglio is a classically trained violist, with proficiency on the violin and harp as well. James began the violin first when he was 12 years old before ultimately switching to the viola. Throughout his high school years he played in various musical pits and did pre-college music studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. He also was a member of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, which afforded him the opportunity to play at Carnegie Hall at the age of 18.

He earned a BA in Music from Stony Brook University on viola in the Fall of 2009 where he performed chamber music, was a member of the orchestra and participated in master classes and special lessons with prominent musicians. Currently, he is finishing up his MA in Music and Music Education at Teacher’s College, Columbia University. He hopes to eventually become an orchestral music teacher while still performing chamber music. He lives on Long Island.
