Mike Walsh

Michael Walsh grew up in Islip, NY and began playing the guitar at age 11. After many
years of tinkering around on his Aunt's piano, his parents finally rented him a guitar
and signed him up for lessons. He hasn't looked back since, and his passion for music
has only grown. Michael studied in private instruction for guitar until he was 18. While
in high school, he participated in the first two years of the electronic music program
and is still very much a tech guru when it comes to his instrument and recording. If he
isn't playing you can probably find him taking care of or modifying his own or others'
instruments. Music School Inc offers a guitar repair program for your convenience.
While studying creative writing at Suffolk Community College, he pursued writing,
recording and performing in original bands such as Tenstrong and Under These Lights.
Michael has since toured the country from coast to coast, as well as performed and
collaborated on several albums. After Michael came home from touring and continued
his education at SUNY Farmingdale, he began studying his instruments more intensely in
private lessons, this time focusing on classical guitar and bass.
Michael has been teaching music for more than seven years, combining the experience of
teaching in a music store setting as well as privately before joinig the Music School Inc.
staff. Michael uses his diverse experience to help find and develop each student's specific
talents and interests, all while building a strong foundation of musical knowledge.
Through learning music, Michael encourages creativity and independence that will help
his students beyond just their instruments.
